Flute Progressions has been designed to follow on from Flute Foundations. It is for you if you have already mastered the basics of tone production, ornamentation and intonation, and are ready to move on to the next level of playing. Reference is made to the exercises presented in Flute Foundations throughout this course, so it is advised that you have completed that course first.

By the end of this course, you will have thirteen Irish tunes to add to your repertoire plus advanced ornamentation skills.  The course has 13 lessons, broken into 3 to 4 tutorials each, where tunes are taught phrase by phrase.

Kirsten Allstaff
Kirsten Allstaff is one of the founders and directors of The Online Academy of Irish Music. She is an acclaimed flute and tin-whistle player and has played music throughout Ireland, Europe, North America and Asia with various Irish dance shows and groups: Gaelforce Dance, Celtic Legends, Rhythm of the Dance, The Fiddlecase and Clare based band Los Paddys De Los Pampas.In 2014, Kirsten released her solo album 'Gallowglass'. Course Structure

In Flute Progressions, focus is placed on more advanced ornamentation: the crann, the short roll and the bounce. Phrasing and breathing also feature as well as the use of the G# key. It is not a prerequisite to have a keyed flute for this course; in the occasional instance where a key is used, the tutor presents alternative melodic ‘turns’ for those with keyless flutes.
